Public Education

I believe nothing is more important to the future of our democracy than public education, and I’m deeply committed to making sure every child has access to high-quality schools.

I attended Montana public schools from kindergarten through graduate school, served nine years on the Helena School Board, and raised three children in the Helena public school system. Montana’s public schools are at the heart of our communities and what makes our state the Last Best Place, and I couldn’t be prouder to have spent most of my life connected to them.

As your legislator, I will relentlessly defend Montana’s public schools by fighting to prevent public funds from being diverted to private schools, supporting budgets that raise teacher pay, and ensuring that local school boards and educators have the freedom to teach our children to thrive in the 21st century.

With the rapid rise of AI and other emerging technologies, our schools must have the resources to adapt and prepare our kids for the future. That starts by listening to educators and making sure they have the tools they need to teach the next generation of Montana leaders.
