I grew up in the Bitterroot Valley, the sixth of seven children where my parents taught us that showing up and serving others isn’t optional, it is our responsibility as Montanans.

After college, I made Helena my home, raising my three sons and building my career focused on ensuring families and children across our state have the support they need to thrive. I watched my boys get an exceptional education from Helena’s public schools and was elected to three terms on the Helena School Board, including service as board chair.

From my days as a kid in the Ravalli County Hoofbeats 4-H Club, to a college work-study job caring for teens in group homes, my early experiences lit a fire that has driven a life dedicated to public service. Through my work as a public servant I have spent more than 30 years dedicated to building a Montana that provides safe, healthy, and supported communities for our state’s children and families.

Lately, like so many of you, I’ve grown frustrated. Frustrated by the rising cost of living and the lack of affordable housing. Frustrated by our state’s leadership failing to prioritize the things most important to our communities, like public education. Frustrated, like the neighbors I hear from every day who work hard just to feel like they can’t get ahead, or are left worrying about affording to retire.

That’s why I’m running. I believe it’s time for practical, experienced leadership that is focused on community impact, not partisanship. I’m stepping up to fight for strong public schools, safe and inclusive communities, and a future where neither working families nor retirees are left behind.
